LEED Gold Certification & Sustainability Recognition

Botany Roof Garden at Acropolis - up to 60 guests

The sustainability practices of Anthology of Athens were featured on Eco News, part of ΣΚΑΪ ΤV main evening bulletin, through an interview with Dimitris Kontogeorgos CEO of the hotel, hosted by Korina Georgiou

The interview highlighted the initiatives that led to the hotel’s LEED Gold certification, including the implementation of a grey water system, the tallest vertical planted garden in Athens, smart and energy-efficient building operations, and a high-quality indoor environment with a strong biophilic focus.

Some of the key elements recognized within the LEED Gold framework include:

  • The first Grey Water System in an urban hotel in Greece, enabling the reuse of water from showers and washbasins for WC flushing, resulting in daily water savings of approximately 4–5 cubic meters.
  • Extensive green infrastructure, featuring the tallest vertical planted garden in Athens (25 meters high, 100 sq.m.), along with planted rooftops and balconies covering 25% of the total plot area.
  • Smart Hotel operation, supported by automated KNX systems, continuous energy monitoring, VRV air-conditioning, and LED lighting throughout the property.
  • High-quality indoor environmental conditions, including abundant natural daylight, low noise levels, clean air, and direct visual connection with the natural environment.

•Innovative and biophilic practices, incorporating systems for continuous indoor air quality monitoring.
